Asia with children: 3 easy destinations Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia

LR-Destination-vietnam

Now that you know therea re many good reasons to travel to Asia with children, you may be asking the question of what is the most suitable destination in Asia with young children or for your first trip away from home ? This continent attracts you but you do not know where to start? If this is the case, here are my top 3 of the easiest countries in Asia with children and why and how.

1. Thailand

Although I have not yet had the opportunity to post any article on Thailand with children (but it will come), we know this country where we went several times.

Hotel infrastructure: there is something for all tastes and all budgets almost everywhere in Thailand (even in the reserve Khao Sok, you’ll find a nice hotel suitable for baby).

Roads: main roads are well developed which will facilitate travel. It is also easy to rent a car or take a driver for about 30US per day (maybe less depending on the location and capabilities of negotiations).

Dream beaches: you want to make sand castles with baby while your spouse (e) is massaged on the beach for a few baht? No problem. The whole family will find his account.

Variety of landscapes: you decide to go on one of the beautiful beaches of the south (Krabi, Koh Lanta for example), visit the temples of Bangkok or go see the elephants in Chiang Mai, you will not have time to get bored .

Food: If Thai food is generally spicy, there are so many western tourists who go there you will find that everywhere fries, cooks and others western dishes that kids love! Of course, they will also have the opportunity to do more local if they wish (vegetables, fried noodles …).
Diapers & Wipes: you can easily find diapers, wipes and even milk in all supermarkets available in all places (there are everywhere).

2. Indonesia [Bali]

The island of Bali in Indonesia. Not the whole Indonesia. There visits Java such as Kawah Ijen volcano or Mount Bromo that are a bit more roots and to book for experienced globetrotters parents and then those who really want because access is not with baby always a pleasure. While in Bali, has everything for travelers with children or almost!

Villas : When traveling with small children, to bathe alone in the pool of a luxurious villa while baby made his nap just beside priceless. The villas sometimes includes the services of a driver, a masseuse (1 massage per day per adult), a cook (who will do the shopping for you). You can take a look at the Bali Villa-site for example.

Diversity of landscapes as in Thailand but on a smaller area (and therefore easier access) you will find a variety of landscapes to entertain the whole family. Volcanoes, waterfalls, beaches, rice fields and temples.

Kindness of Balinese: always smiling (we could say the same of Thai), the Balinese love children and you can go anywhere with your offspring.

Infrastructure for children: in Bali, you will find a zoo (not tested) or a water park for older children – Waterbom.

Diapers & Wipes: as in Thailand, it will be easy to find diapers, wipes and baby milk (but beware the milk because I think it is better to bring your own and be sure baby does not make intolerance a new milk, especially when you’re on vacation!).

I will soon publish our tours with children in Bali, promise! Meanwhile, you can find articles published on Indonesia here. Included dolphins Lovina in Bali 🙂 Or read the articles Bali practice with children or my good addresses villas for rent in Bali Olivia on My Little Singapore.

3. Vietnam

Communication for globetrotters parents who do not speak English very well and are afraid of not being able to get by (you should not but you never know), Vietnam is the perfect destination. For its history with France, it is the country in which you find most easily guides who speak French … everywhere.

Landscape: Vietnam is a beautiful country whose globetrotter family loves the scenery! Halong Bay, Sapa mountain region in the north, Muine beach and desert in the south, color contrasts in Dalat ethnic minorities,  maybe avoid Sapa area (hiking, overnight train from Hanoi 12h, dirt tracks instead of roads),  Hanoi and the  Halong bay are perfect destinations for families.

Hotel infrastructure: as in Thailand and Bali, it will be relatively easy to find hotels for all tastes and all budgets in Vietnam.

Food: Vietnamese food is not spicy and really one of the best of Southeast Asia (with that of Thailand). It is ideal for young children.

Medical care: good health infrastructure (in Bali too – mainly in Thailand)

In conclusion (and to map a little), I would say if you are looking for a destination “Relaxation: beautiful beaches and massages” towards Thailand with your children; if you are looking for a destination “Culture & Landscapes” towards Vietnam and if you want to combine tracks / relaxation and visits towards Bali. If you want to visit Asia with children, you have the choice! If I had to add a fourth country (bonus), it would be Sri Lanka.

And you? Have You ever been to Bali, Thailand or Vietnam with your children? What do you think? Do you think that another Asian destination must appear in the top 3?

A helicopter ride to see Dubai from the sky and visit the Burj Khalifa, the highest tower in the world

Dubai is a city where you do not get bored, both activities abound (see things to do in Dubai). Among the best of them, if there is a visit that you should not miss is that of the Burj Khalifa, the highest tower in the world to date. This huge tower of 828 meters is one of the technological feats that humans have done on Earth, and that’s one reason why you should go up.

In a city of this size, why not make a business out of the ordinary? Dubai, with its towering skyscrapers and superstructures, appreciate especially from the air. For this, you can climb to the observation deck of the tallest tower in the world, the Burj Khalifa … But Dubai is also a sprawling city and the ideal is to realize in the flying. The helicopter is the best way to see Dubai from the sky.

Of course, this kind of activity has a price, especially as it does not last long: 15 to 25 minutes of flight. Dubai helicopter but fly is foolish you will only very few times in your life. And Dubai, like New York, is one of those cities that impress from the air. How can the design of the Palm Jumeirah from the ground? or the islands of “The World” off? Only a helicopter can get you there.

With this helicopter, you fly over including the Palm Jumeirah, the Persian Gulf coast, the islands of “The World” and the Burj Al-Arab hotel, one of the greatest symbols of Dubai, Union Square, Sheikh Zayed Road, Mall of the Emirates, Burj Khalifa, etc …

Originally, the tower was to be called “Burj Dubai”, but was renamed when it was inaugurated January 4, 2010 in honor of the Emir of Abu Dhabi and president of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, following its refinancing up to $ 10 billion in real estate projects in Dubai.

In the Burj Khalifa, there are apartments, offices, a luxury hotel, the At The Top observation platform, rooms fitness and recreation. They say that the Burj Khalifa is a vertical city where one can find everything needed for daily life. This monumental skyscraper is also connected with the biggest mall in the world, the Dubai Mall.

In 2013, 1.87 million people visited Burj Khalifa, and for this reason, I suggest you book your ticket in advance. I also advise you to take priority ticket which I will put the link just below. Indeed, the normal entrance fee is 25 € (AED 125) if you buy it on the official site. But the priority ticket offered on the site is 80 € (400 AED) !! The one I suggest is just € 28.40 …

This ticket will allow you to skip the line of tourists to go directly to the fastest elevator in the world: 10 meters per second! This takes you to the At The Top observation platform, located on the 124th floor, where you can admire stunning views of Dubai and the region! You will be able to observe the famous Burj Al Arab, the Palm Jumeirah or the desert surrounding the city.

Warning: no visit is possible without reservation! To ensure a pleasant visit only a limited number of visitors is indeed allowed to go up to the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa. Schedule a visit you will be shown after your online booking to allow quick access to the top. Best to book one month and a half in advance to have the opportunity to visit the tower at the time of your choice. However, your admission tickets will not be sent (by email) over 3 weeks in advance.
